CWSI and ICODASO Pay Courtesy Calls to Stakeholders under the WPHF–UN Women Project in Cross River and Benue States

Centre for Women Studies and Intervention (CWSI), in partnership with the Initiative for Community Development and Advancement of Social Orientation (ICODASO), carried out a series of courtesy visits in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State to introduce the “Building Climate Security Resilience for Women and Girls of Benue and Cross River States” project.

The visits were aimed at securing stakeholders’ buy-in and strengthening collaboration for effective project implementation. This initiative is supported by the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) and UN Women, under which CWSI recently became a grantee. The project focuses on enhancing the resilience of women and girls against the impacts of climate change while promoting peace, security, and sustainable livelihoods in vulnerable communities across Benue and Cross River States.

During the exercise, the team paid visits to community chiefs and kindred heads in Mbagwen, Agan, and Genabe communities. The delegation, led by the Project Manager, also paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Benue State Council on Climate Change, where discussions centered on partnership opportunities and aligning efforts to ensure the success of the project.

The reception from community leaders and government representatives was warm and encouraging, reflecting an impressive local interest and commitment to the project’s objectives. Moving forward, CWSI and ICODASO plan to conduct a baseline survey to gain a deeper understanding of community dynamics and set clear priorities for intervention.

Through this initiative, CWSI continues to advance its mission of empowering women and girls to lead in building peaceful and climate-resilient communities. Special thanks to the Women Peace and Humanitarian Fund-UN Women for their support and the technical assistance the project have enjoyed so far.
