Road Walk to Promote Disability Rights and End Violence Against Women and Girls

Disability inclusion is at the heart of CWSI’s work. Recently, we organized a road walk under the ‘Action to Promote Disability Inclusion in the Campaign to End Violence Against Women’ project in the FCT. This project, financed by the Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD), has been mainstreaming disability inclusion in the protection of human rights and decision-making. We have been partnering with the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) to amplify the voices of persons with disabilities and address the unique challenges they face.

Awareness of disability rights remains limited, contributing to violence against women and girls with disabilities. The primary aim of the road walk was to raise awareness and rally support for promoting the rights of persons with disabilities while advocating for an end to violence against women and girls with disabilities.

It was inspiring to witness passersby join in solidarity, amplifying the message. Even more beautiful was seeing the unwavering support within the disability community.

The inclusion of persons with disabilities in society and the protection of their rights is a necessary step toward social justice and equity.
