Position: Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer

Centre for Women Studies and Intervention (CWSI), in partnership with Initiative for Community Development and Advancement of Social Orientation (ICODASO), is seeking a qualified individual to express interest in serving as Project Officer for the proposed project “Building Climate Security Resilience for Women and Girls of Benue and Cross-River States of Nigeria,” funded by the Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) – UN Women
This project seeks to implement evidence-based interventions that empower vulnerable, traumatized, marginalized, and excluded women in conflict-affected and climate-vulnerable communities. The goal is to transform them into resilient change agents who can effectively participate in peace and security decision-making processes.
The project aims to:
- Strengthen the capacity of women (including women-led CSOs), policymakers, and community leaders on climate security initiatives.
- Provide agricultural livelihood opportunities using climate-smart techniques to mitigate conflicts and injustices linked to natural resource use.
- Create platforms for continuous dialogue and communication on climate security.
- Foster coordination, collaboration, and partnerships between government and local communities.
The M&E Officer will be instrumental in measuring progress, ensuring accountability, and generating evidence for policy and practice.
Responsibilities
The M&E Officer will:
- Develop, update, and operationalize the project’s M&E framework, tools, and systems.
- Establish baseline data, track progress against indicators, and measure impact.
- Conduct regular field monitoring, data collection, and verification in Benue and Cross-River States.
- Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision-making.
- Prepare high-quality progress reports, donor reports, and evaluation briefs.
- Document lessons learned, success stories, and case studies for learning and advocacy.
- Build the capacity of project staff, CSOs, and partners on M&E approaches and tools.
- Ensure accountability, gender sensitivity and inclusivity, and conflict sensitivity in all M&E processes.
- Contribute to mid-term and endline evaluations, research, and learning activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ professional experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) within development, peacebuilding, climate change, or humanitarian projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in results-based management, logical frameworks, and outcome monitoring.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Kobo Toolbox, ODK).
- Strong skills in report writing, data visualization, and presentation.
- Experience engaging with community stakeholders, CSOs, and government institutions.
- Knowledge of gender, climate security, and conflict-sensitive programming is desirable.
- Ability to travel regularly to field sites in Benue and Cross-River States.
