From Learning to Action: CWSI Advances Disability Inclusion in the Federal Capital Territory

CWSI organised a Shared Learning Event for law enforcement agents in the FCT under the CAFOD -funded project, “Capacity Building of Law Enforcement Agents on Disability-Inclusive and Gender-Responsive Response to Violence Against Women and Girls in the FCT.”

The event provided an interactive platform for trained law enforcement agents to reflect on their experiences and share best practices, challenges and recommendations for strengthening the protection of the rights of women and girls with disabilities.

Discussions also focused on promoting appropriate communication, positive attitudes and survivor-centred approaches when responding to cases of violence involving persons with disabilities.

Progress was recorded as participants demonstrated increased awareness and commitment to adopting more inclusive and responsive practices when handling cases involving women and girls with disabilities.

The shared learning further highlighted the need for continued collaboration, capacity building and institutional action to advance disability-inclusive justice, protection and access to appropriate support for survivors.
