Centre for Women Studies and Intervention continues its initiatives to promote the rights of women and girls with disabilities and to build the capacity of law enforcement agents to better protect their rights.
Recently, with funding support from CAFOD and in partnership with Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, CWSI began the implementation of the “Capacity Building of Law Enforcement Agents on Disability-Inclusive and Gender-Responsive Response to Violence Against Women and Girls in the FCT.” The project commenced with a capacity-building workshop for law enforcement agents in Gwagwalada, FCT, Abuja.
The workshop enhanced the knowledge of law enforcement agents on disability rights, strengthened their approach in handling gender-based violence cases involving women and girls with disabilities, and equipped participants with appropriate terminology and language to use when interfacing with persons with disabilities—terminologies that reduce stigma and remove barriers.
This initiative reflects CWSI’s continued commitment to advancing disability inclusion and strengthening the capacity of key stakeholders to protect the rights of women and girls with disabilities.
