The Action to Eliminate Violence Against Women (ATEVAW) project was a multi-year intervention implemented by Centre For Women Studies and Intervention (CWSI) in partnership with Catholic Agency For Overseas Development (CAFOD), with funding from the United Nations Trust Fund ( Spotlight Initiative). Executed from January 2020 to December 2022, the project was designed to address deeply entrenched forms of violence against women and girls (VAW/G) in four local government areas of Cross River State: Bekwarra, Boki, Ogoja, and Yala. The project focused on the elimination of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in the Ekajuk communities of Ogoja LGA, and the reduction of other harmful practices such as early and forced marriages, domestic violence, and degrading widowhood rites.
