Today marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. This year’s theme, “Towards Beijing +30: Unite to End Violence against Women and Girls,” highlights the ongoing commitment to the Beijing Declaration. The campaign focuses on mobilizing around the Beijing +30 review priorities, emphasizing the urgency of holding perpetrators accountable, implementing well-funded national strategies, and boosting support for women’s rights movements.
The campaign calls on all of us, particularly Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), to renew our commitment to ending gender-based violence and recognize the crucial role each organization plays in the 12 critical areas of the Beijing Declaration as we approach its 30th anniversary. It’s a call to invest in meaningful, sustainable solutions—through advocacy, policy-making, education, and resource allocation—that can significantly reduce and ultimately prevent violence against women and girls.
At the Centre for Women Studies and Intervention (CWSI), we have worked tirelessly to support survivors in rebuilding their lives while advocating for stronger legal protections and cultural transformation. CWSI remains dedicated to ending violence against women and girls through awareness-raising, by-law formulation to abolish GBV in remote communities, and capacity-building initiatives. Our work promotes the rights of women and girls to live free from violence, continuously adapting our programs to reflect this commitment.
As the 16 Days of Activism begin, we join the global community in advocating for a world where women and girls are safe, respected, and free to thrive. We urge the Government, Civil Society Organizations, the private sector, and International Non-Governmental Organizations to act collectively to achieve the goals of the Beijing Declaration.
Together, we can uphold the dignity and rights of women.
